The Deputy Director of Public Health at the Central Regional Health Directorate, Dr. Jojo Cobbinah has confirmed that 10 cases of Measles have been recorded within the region.
Out of the 10 cases, he disclosed that Upper Denkyira East recorded seven cases and Assikuma Odoben Brakwa recorded three.
Dr. Cobbinah made this disclosure during a press briefing and stakeholders meeting on the upcoming national measles and rubella Immunization campaign.
He said the immunization will ensure that almost all the 450,000 targeted children within the Central Region are immunised to protect them against the measles disease
“We are combining the Measles campaign with vitamin ‘A’ supplementation slated from 2nd October to 6th October so we are appealing to journalists to disseminate the measle immunization to the communities of the importance of vitamin A supplementation as well as the measles vaccine” Dr. Conbinah stated.
According to him, “We are making every effort to make sure that every child is protected from measles because if we don’t immunize and protect the children, they are likely to spread the diseases around and infect the other children”.
He disclosed that the Measles vaccine is safe and healthy a called on parents to patronize and protect their children against measles.
Dr. Cobbinah explained that the vaccine will protect children from dangerous diseases that can have life-threatening consequences.
