The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dominic Ayine says he is behind the order for the arrest of former Board Chairman of Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi.
Prof Ameyaw-Akumfi was picked up on February 23, 2025, morning for allegedly authorizing the release of $2 million to Africa Investor Holdings, the company behind the project for the Accra Sky Train project.
In an interview, the Attorney-General disclosed that he gave the order for the arrest.
According to him, the suspect was questioned over the payment as part of an on-going investigation into the project that never took place.
Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructure Fund, Dr Ameyaw Akumfi was arrested and questioned. He did admit that $2 million was paid and no work was done. We are still investigating the circumstances of the payment and those who were involved.”
