FC Samartex forward Baba Hamadu Musah has cautioned his teammates against complacency following their narrow 1-0 victory over Cameroon’s Victoria United FC in the CAF Champions League qualifier.
Despite securing the crucial win on the road, Musah stressed that the team cannot afford to relax as they head into the second leg.
In an interview with the club’s media team, Musah emphasized the importance of approaching the upcoming match at the Accra Sports Stadium with the mindset of “wounded lions,” determined to leave nothing to chance.
“A 1-0 victory is a tricky one, no matter how elated we are as players. Therefore, we have resolved to perceive it as a defeat, entering the second leg fixture as wounded lions at the Accra Sports Stadium. We can only celebrate after progressing to the next stage of the competition,” Musah stated.
FC Samartex, who are the reigning Ghana Premier League champions, will host Victoria United in the reverse fixture on Sunday, with the aim of securing their place in the next round of the CAF Champions League.
