I Am Not Into Politics for Money -Prince David Osei

Popular Ghanaian actor and NPP supporter, Prince David Osei, has responded to accusations that he entered politics because his acting career is dead.

In an interview with GHOne TV, Prince David Osei dismissed these claims, calling them “jokes.” He clarified that he has been actively filming and has several projects lined up.

“I’ve been filming outside Ghana. My recent movie, has been nominated for the Toronto Film Festival… So, if someone says I’m doing politics because my career is dead, then that person is a joke,” he said.

Prince David Osei explained that Ghanaian producers often can’t afford his fees when asked why he appears in more Nigerian movies than Ghanaian ones.  “Sometimes, over here, they can’t pay me. When I mention my price, they can’t pay. And sometimes I do favors for directors I know, but mostly, they can’t pay,” he added.

Prince David Osei has made it clear that his support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is a personal decision and not about money. He said, “People also have the perception that maybe it’s money. No. You can’t judge everybody and how they live. I’m not doing it for money or recognition or whatever. Nobody has given me any money for politics.”

Earlier this year, Prince David Osei openly supported Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the 2024 presidential election by sharing a photo of himself with Dr. Bawumia, the NPP’s flagbearer.
