The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana is set to commence its nationwide voter exhibition exercise today, August 20, 2024. The initiative will unfold at over 38,000 nationwide polling stations, running through August 27.
The purpose of this exercise is to allow voters to verify and update their registration details. However, the exercise has been overshadowed by criticism from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The party, through its Director of Elections, has raised concerns over the EC’s adherence to its own schedule. They allege that the Commission deliberately delayed the release of the provisional voters register until just a day before the start of the exhibition.
In a post shared via Facebook, Dr Omane Boamah said “The incompetent Electoral Commission has finally released the Provisional Voters Register to NDC.
In response to these allegations, the Electoral Commission stated that the registers are being dispatched to regional offices this evening.
They urged voters to visit their designated polling stations daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. until August 27 to confirm their details.
