NDC’s Key Social Interventions in 2024 Manifesto

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has outlined five major social interventions in its 2024 manifesto aimed at alleviating hardships and supporting Ghanaians. The initiatives, which form part of the party’s commitment to improving the welfare of citizens, were announced by the NDC/Mahama government.

The NDC plans to introduce a ‘No-Academic-Fee’ policy for all first-year students in public tertiary institutions, including universities, technical universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and nursing training institutions. This initiative, dubbed “No-Fees-Stress,” will be implemented within the first 90 days of the NDC’s administration.

The manifesto also includes the reintroduction and redeployment of the SLTF Plus to support fee financing for continuing students in public tertiary institutions under the “No-Fees-Stress” initiative.

The NDC is committed to providing free tertiary education for persons with disabilities, ensuring equal access to higher education for all.

The establishment of the Ghana Medical Care Trust, known as MahamaCares, aims to support the cost of healthcare for individuals with chronic diseases such as kidney failure, cancers, sickle cell disease, diabetes, hypertension, and other heart diseases.

To support female students in basic and secondary schools, the NDC will provide free sanitary pads, addressing a critical need for young girls and promoting menstrual hygiene.

These interventions reflect the NDC’s focus on education, healthcare, and social welfare, aiming to create a more equitable and supportive environment for all Ghanaians.

The party’s manifesto highlights its dedication to addressing the pressing needs of the population and improving the quality of life for the most vulnerable groups.
