The police say a manhunt has been launched to locate and arrest robbers who stormed the jewellery shop at Adabraka in Accra with guns and made away with millions of cedis.
CCTV videos shared on social media portrayed the moment some wrapped contents said to be cash were stuffed into the boot of a red saloon car in front of the shop and got attacked by the robbers as it set out to leave the venue.
The armed robbers fired shots to scare away the crowd, offloaded the cash from the red car into their own vehicle and left the venue.
The daylight robbery happened on Saturday, October 2, 2024, morning, to the surprise of all passersby as depicted in some amateur videos of the incident.
In a statement, the Ghana Police Service said it was hunting down the armed robbers for prosecution.
“The Police are on a manhunt for a gang of armed robbers who attacked a jewellery shop at Adrabraka in Accra on Saturday 2nd November 2024.”
It confirmed that one person sustained an injury in the incident; however, the severity of his condition was not relayed.
It further assured the public of arresting the gang members.
“We would like to assure the public that we will surely get them and bring them to face justice.”
