YAFO Institute Releases 2024 Annual Report Highlighting Advocacy for Liberty and Prosperity in Ghana

YAFO Institute, an independent policy research organization  has unveiled its 2024 Annual Report, titled Let Liberty Shine, showcasing a year of impactful policy advocacy and organizational achievements aimed at advancing civil liberty, free enterprise, and economic prosperity in Ghana. The report highlights the Institute’s commitment to research-backed policy reforms and its efforts to address critical socio-economic issues.

The report underscores YAFO’s dedication to fostering informed public discourse through initiatives like the Policy Dialogue Series, which educates citizens on government policies and their implications. Among the policies reviewed were Planting for Food & Jobs, NABCO (Nation Builders Corps), NEIP (National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme), YOUSTART, Regional Reorganization and Zongo Development Fund, and the Free Senior High School Policy. Additionally, the Institute continued its advocacy against burdensome taxes such as the Electronic Transaction Levy (E-Levy), Emission Tax, and COVID-19 tax through campaigns like a change.org petition.

While YAFO’s efforts are pivotal to nation-building, the report notes challenges in gaining recognition for policy reforms within Ghana’s socio-political landscape. Despite these hurdles, the Institute reaffirms its commitment to objectivism and free-market principles, emphasizing individual liberty, personal responsibility, and limited government intervention.

YAFO’s dedication to free-market ideals earned it the prestigious Africa Tank Shark Tank Award 2024 from Atlas Network in Tanzania. This accolade reflects its significant contributions toward promoting liberty in Ghana.

Nathaniel Dwamena, President of YAFO Institute, reiterated the importance of free-market principles in his remarks: “The tenets of liberty are broad yet bleeding in Ghana. There is a need for free-market organizations to collaborate to safeguard liberty in our society. Ghanaians want to see their property rights upheld, lower taxes, less government intrusion, and barriers to prosperity removed.”
