The Ashanti Regional Cadres Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Muntari Alhassan, along with his entire executive team, has defected to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The announcement was made during a press conference held in Kumasi, where Alhaji Alhassan cited a renewed vision for development and a desire to contribute more effectively to the region’s progress as key reasons for the defection.
“Our decision is driven by a commitment to the betterment of the Ashanti Region and Ghana as a whole, we believe that aligning with the NPP will enable us to achieve our goals more efficiently.” Alhaji Alhassan stated
This defection marks a significant blow to the NDC, particularly in the Ashanti Region, which has been a stronghold for the party. Political analysts suggest that this move could potentially shift the balance of power in the region, influencing upcoming elections.
The NPP has welcomed Alhaji Alhassan and his team with open arms, expressing confidence that their experience and dedication will bolster the party’s efforts in the region.
“We are thrilled to have Alhaji Alhassan and his executives join us, their expertise and commitment to development align perfectly with our party’s vision.” Some NPP members said.
As the political landscape in Ghana continues to evolve, this defection underscores the dynamic nature of party affiliations and the ongoing quest for effective governance.
