GIPC CEO Tours Kwame Nkrumah Circle Markets, Reaffirms Support for Ghanaian Traders

As part of a comprehensive strategy to strengthen stakeholder engagement in the retail sector, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Mr. Simon Madjie recently conducted a tour of key trading areas around Kwame Nkrumah Circle, with a special focus on Tip Toe Lane, renowned for its bustling market in mobile phones and accessories.

This visit followed a high-level meeting between Mr. Madjie and executives of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), where discussions centered on addressing the pressing challenges faced by the trading community.

During the tour, Mr. Madjie engaged directly with shop owners and mobile phone traders, reassuring them of the government’s commitment through the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) to protect Ghanaian traders from unfair practices, such as fronting and unauthorized foreign competition in regulated trading zones.

Mr. Joseph Obeng, President of GUTA, praised the initiative, describing the CEO’s visit as a refreshing example of proactive leadership that fosters collaboration and responsiveness to the needs of traders. The engagement signals a concerted effort to support local businesses and ensure a sustainable and fair trading environment across the sector.
