Ho Technical University Sanctions 26 Students for Exam Malpractice

Ho Technical University (HTU) has taken disciplinary action against 26 male students for various forms of examination malpractice during the 2024/2025 academic year’s End-of-First Semester Examinations. The sanctions, which were announced in an official notice from the Registrar, Dr. Christopher Amehoe, took effect on August 6, 2025.

The students were found guilty of infractions across various departments, including Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Civil Engineering, and Building Technology.

The university’s disciplinary measures are as follows:

  • Nine students have been rusticated for two semesters.
  • Sixteen students have been rusticated for one semester.
  • One student has been reprimanded and bonded to be of good behavior.

In addition to these penalties, the specific examination papers in which the malpractice occurred have been canceled for all affected students. The registrar’s notice also mandates that all rusticated students must immediately vacate the campus and are prohibited from participating in any university activities during their suspension.

To ensure compliance, the notice has tasked Heads of Department, Hall Wardens, and the university’s Security Unit with strict enforcement of the directive.

Dr. Amehoe reiterated the university’s zero-tolerance policy on examination malpractice, warning that future offenses will be met with even more severe penalties. The university’s stance is a clear message to all students to maintain academic integrity and adhere to its strict code of conduct.
