Illegal Mining Operation Busted on Bonsa River

A joint anti-galamsey operation conducted by the Tarkwa Police Command and Blue Water Guards has resulted in the significant disruption of illegal mining activities on the Bonsa River in Esuoso. The coordinated effort led to the destruction of multiple pieces of equipment used by illegal miners.

During the operation, law enforcement and the environmental protection unit discovered miners actively engaged in illicit activities within the river. The team successfully destroyed six dredging machines, twelve Changfan engines, four pumping machines, and various other pieces of equipment essential to the illegal mining process.

The targeted intervention aims to curb the rampant environmental degradation caused by galamsey, particularly the pollution of vital water bodies like the Bonsa River. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ongoing efforts to combat illegal mining across the region.
