Mahama’s Track Record Unmatched – Afram Plains South MP

The Member of Parliament for Afram Plains South, Joseph Appiah Boateng, has stated that the administration of President John Dramani Mahama has outperformed the previous government across key sectors of the economy.

According to the legislator, the current government has made significant progress in areas such as infrastructure development, agriculture, public finance management and economic stability.

Mr. Boateng made the remarks while contributing to deliberations on the State of the Nation Address during a parliamentary sitting on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

He told the House that several development projects currently underway in the Afram Plains South constituency demonstrate what he described as a clear difference in governance approach and delivery.

The MP cited major road projects linking communities such as Adawso to Ekye Bridge, Amanfrom to Agodeke Road, and Kwame Oppong Nkwanta to Akyem Agogo Road, which he said have commenced and are at various stages of completion. According to him, the projects will improve accessibility for farmers, traders and commuters in the area.

Mr. Boateng expressed optimism that the completion of these projects would open up communities in the constituency and reduce the hardships residents have endured for years.

The legislator, popularly known as JAB 1, also highlighted agricultural interventions introduced by President Mahama, including the distribution of 10,000 birds to farmers under the “Nkokonketenkete” flagship programme aimed at boosting local poultry production and improving household incomes.

He noted that the initiative is expected to create jobs and enhance food security in the country.

Mr. Boateng further disclosed that the construction of an ultra-modern farmers’ centre in the constituency is underway to provide technical support, training and storage facilities for farmers.

On public finance, the MP said Afram Plains South has recently received significantly higher development funding, allowing several stalled projects to resume. He added that statutory payments to district assemblies are now up to date, enabling assembly members to perform their duties more effectively.

“President Mahama has demonstrated strong commitment to development in Afram Plains South. Over GH¢18 million has been allocated to Afram Plains South for developmental projects – an immense improvement compared to the GH¢300,000 received in 2024 under the previous Akufo-Addo-led government. Clearly, the President is working diligently for the good of the people. It therefore raises questions as to why some individuals continue to undermine and dishonor his efforts. One must ask – why the persistent opposition to every positive step taken by this administration?” he said.

Mr. Boateng also pointed to reductions in fuel and food prices, improved currency stability and the absence of power supply disruptions as indicators of economic recovery.

“The cost of doing business has reduced, and ordinary people are beginning to feel some relief,” he added.

He further cited peaceful by-elections and the timely payment of assembly members as signs of improved governance and political stability, urging Minority Members of Parliament to acknowledge what he described as the country’s economic progress under President Mahama or remain silent.
