A recent national security raid in Ho, Volta Region, has sparked controversy, with a senior journalist and NDC sympathizer, Graham Kofi Baldwin, criticizing the operatives involved. The raid, which took place a few days ago, resulted in the towing away of three cars and a motorcycle from a private residence.
The Incident
According to eyewitnesses, a group of alleged national security operatives, led by Warrant Officer Richmond Amevortse of the 66 Artillery Regiment, stormed the residence, claiming that the vehicles were not “customed.” However, the owner of one of the cars, a Ford Explorer, produced documents proving ownership, which were ignored by the operatives.
Reaction from Graham Kofi Baldwin
Baldwin, who owns the Ford Explorer, has expressed outrage over the incident, questioning how a regional national security liaison officer could handpick untrained wayside mechanics to engage in sensitive national security issues. “This is not what we voted for,” he said, referencing the NDC’s campaign against such actions under the previous NPP administration.
He said that, Ghanaians voted the NPP out of power because of some the above illegalities and wonders why this will be happening under the National Democratic Congress administration. “The President is delaying…a lot is going wrong and if care is not taken what happened to our party in 2016 may repeat itself again in 2028” he charged.
Allegations of Greed and Selfishness
Baldwin alleged that some individuals within the NDC are driven by greed and selfishness, damaging the party’s image. He vowed to expose those he described as “enemies” of the resetting agenda, who are more interested in personal gain than serving the party’s ideals.
Refusal to Accept Vehicles Back
Baldwin stated that all the vehicles taken away are customed and insisted the contents in especially the Ford Explorer are valuable and that due to the damages caused, he would not accept them back. He plans to seek legal action to settle the matter.
Call for Action
Baldwin urged President John Mahama to take decisive action against those undermining the party’s agenda. “There must be a difference between the NDC and the NPP,” he emphasized.
Party Infighting
This incident comes on the heels of the General Secretary of the NDC exposing how some party elements are helping corrupt former government officials evade accountability. The party faces challenges in maintaining its integrity and upholding its campaign promises.
Investigation Underway
The national security raid is currently under investigation, with many calling for accountability and transparency in the operations of national security agencies.
