Police Arrest Three Suspects in Kidnapping Rescue Operation

The Northern Regional Police Command has reported a major breakthrough in an ongoing kidnapping investigation following an intelligence-driven operation that led to the arrest of three suspects.

In a detailed statement signed by Chief Inspector Alhassan Luckman Niendow, the Command confirmed that the three individuals—identified as Haruna Seidu, Amidu Bandi, and Osman Bandi—were apprehended on December 6, 2025, in Bokpaba, a village located along the Bimbilla–Yendi road corridor.

The arrested men are allegedly members of a four-person criminal syndicate responsible for abducting a 42-year-old man from Wapuli, a community in the Yendi District. According to police reports, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of GH₵100,000 from the victim’s family.

Following the report of the abduction, the Northern Regional Police quickly mobilized a specialized five-officer unit from the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate. The team was tasked to conduct surveillance, carry out a rescue operation, and apprehend those involved.

After days of coordinated efforts, the police successfully rescued the abducted man on December 5, 2025. The operation encountered heavy resistance, resulting in an intense gunfire exchange between the officers and the suspects. During the confrontation, three suspects were captured, while the fourth member of the syndicate reportedly sustained gunshot wounds but managed to flee.

The police confirmed that the three apprehended suspects are currently held in custody and are slated to be formally charged in court. Meanwhile, a manhunt continues for the fourth suspect, whom authorities believe is still armed and dangerous.

The Northern Regional Police Command has appealed to the public for assistance, urging anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the fugitive to come forward. “We call on the public to provide relevant information that would lead to the arrest of the remaining suspect to ensure justice is served,” the statement emphasized.

This successful operation underscores the vital role of intelligence and community cooperation in combating kidnapping and crime in the Northern Region.
