Selina Boateng Alleges Industry Sabotage: “Someone Paid Presenters to Ignore My Songs”

Gospel singer Selina Boateng has revealed what she describes as sabotage in the music industry. In an interview with Emelia Brobbey on “Okukuseku The Talkshow,” shared on social media on September 7, 2025, Selina disclosed that an industry “gatekeeper” cautioned presenters to refrain from promoting her songs.

She explained that an individual, whose identity she did not disclose, paid presenters not to promote her music despite having no personal grievances against that person. Selina said, “I have a lot to talk about. Someone decided to keep an eye on me in our own industry. I always say that my husband brought me into the limelight. So as a young artiste, I thought everyone would like me, but there was this woman who was calling presenters and media houses to stop promoting my songs.”

Selina further recounted that a presenter told her about this after she persistently requested her songs be played. “Even though we had paid the presenter, my songs were not being played. So anytime I ask him, the only thing he tells me is that they will do it. He later informed me that a female singer warned him not to play my songs because I was new to the industry. Meanwhile, I was inside the music industry before she even did,” she added.

This claim sheds light on challenges some emerging artists face in gaining fair promotion and recognition in Ghana’s music industry.
