The Youth Employment Agency (YEA), under the leadership of CEO Malik Basintale, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Insurance Commission (NIC) to train and deploy 500 young people as certified insurance agents. This initiative, facilitated through the Ghana Insurance College, aims to equip youth with the necessary skills and certification to excel in the insurance sector.
The collaboration intends to address youth unemployment by providing practical training and employment opportunities in the insurance industry, fostering financial inclusion and economic empowerment. Through this program, the selected youths will receive comprehensive training on insurance products, customer service, and regulatory compliance, enabling them to effectively serve clients and promote insurance uptake.
Malik Basintale, CEO of YEA, emphasized the importance of such partnerships in creating sustainable employment avenues for young people and enhancing their capacity to contribute meaningfully to the economy. The National Insurance Commission also reiterated its commitment to supporting youth development and expanding the insurance industry’s reach across the country.
This initiative reflects a strategic approach to tackling youth unemployment by aligning education and industry needs, while simultaneously growing Ghana’s insurance sector through skilled human resource deployment. The training and certification program is expected to have far-reaching benefits for both the young participants and the communities they will serve.
