Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has hailed Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey as one of the best in the English Premier League following Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Villa on Saturday.
Partey played a pivotal role in the win, scoring the second goal at Villa Park that sealed the Gunners’ victory.
Martinez, who was unable to prevent Partey’s shot from slipping through his fingers, acknowledged the Ghanaian’s quality.
“I tried my best to save it. I didn’t know it was a shot from Partey until I raised my head after the ball went in. He’s one of the best midfielders in the league,” Martinez admitted in a post-match interview.
Leandro Trossard also contributed to the win, coming off the bench to score with his first touch and put Arsenal ahead.
Partey’s goal ten minutes later ensured a sweet victory for the Gunners, especially after Villa’s double over Arsenal last season. This goal marks Partey’s first Premier League strike since March 2023.
After an injury-plagued season, the former Atletico Madrid star is eager to make a significant impact in the ongoing campaign.
Despite transfer rumors, Partey continues to demonstrate his value to Arsenal, with performances like these solidifying his place as a key player in the squad.
