Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have averted a deadly tanker explosion at Tanoso in the Bono East Region.
A statement issued by the Service on September 17 said the tanker was transporting fuel from Kumasi to Buipe on Sunday, September 15, 2024, when it tipped over in an accident .
“A team of Firefighters from the Regional Headquarters have, on Sunday 15th September 2024, responded to a distress call involving a fuel tanker which was involved in an accident at Tanoso while transporting fuel from Kumasi to Buipe.”
Upon arrival at the scene at 0350 hours, the statement said the crew found the fuel leaking from its upper outlet.
The crew immediately deployed the cooling strategy by spraying the tanker with foam concentrate to prevent heat build-up, it said
“The fuel was successfully transferred to another tanker and the vehicle towed away to allow free flow of traffic under the Command of the Bono East Regional Commander, ACFO II Ofori-Adobea,” it added
