Prof. Opoku-Agyemang Champions Women’s Empowerment and Job Creation in Aowin

The running mate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has articulated a vision to “reset” Ghana by focusing on women’s empowerment and job creation during her recent campaign visit to the Aowin Constituency in the Western North Region.

In her address, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang outlined the NDC’s commitment to investing in women through the establishment of a Women’s Development Bank.

“This initiative aims to provide flexible loans to approximately one million women across the nation, thereby enhancing their economic independence and entrepreneurial opportunities.” She noted.

She emphasized that this bank would specifically address the challenges women face in accessing financial resources, which is crucial for fostering gender equality in business.

Additionally, she announced plans to extend maternity leave by an additional month and introduce paternity leave, highlighting the NDC’s commitment to supporting families and promoting equitable workplace policies.

“National Apprenticeship Programme will also play a pivotal role in providing skills training for the youth, equipping them with the necessary tools to thrive in a competitive job market.” She noted

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang urged constituents to participate actively in the upcoming elections, advocating for a vote for John Dramani Mahama and NDC parliamentary candidates. She framed this electoral choice as essential for combating state capture, corruption, and nepotism, asserting that a vote for the NDC represents a decisive step towards restoring integrity in governance.

Her remarks resonate with broader NDC initiatives aimed at revitalizing Ghana’s economy and addressing pressing socio-economic challenges. As part of their manifesto, the party has pledged to create a conducive environment for business development and job creation, emphasizing their focus on accountability and prosperity for all Ghanaians.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s campaign message underscores a strategic approach to empowering women and youth while addressing systemic issues within Ghana’s economic landscape, positioning the NDC as a party committed to transformative change ahead of the December 2024 elections.
