Star of the Sea Alumni Honors Teachers in 20th Anniversary Gesture

As part of the 20th anniversary celebrations of the Star of the Sea Catholic School -Class of 2004,the group has honored some former teachers who dedicated many years to the institution.

The year group organized a series of activities aimed at giving back to their alma mater, including visits to retired teachers where they presented cash gifts and expressed gratitude for their service.

A highlight of the celebration was a Thanksgiving Mass during which Mrs. Alexina Djameh, the school’s first headmistress, and Mrs. Margaret Dankyi Boamah, a kindergarten teacher with nearly 30 years of service, were recognized. Both were awarded citations and cash gifts as tokens of appreciation for their significant contributions to the school’s history.

President of the group, Stephen Somuah emphasized the importance of giving back to an institution that played a vital role in their development. He noted their ongoing commitment to supporting the school through various initiatives, including donations of stationery, career guidance events, and a scholarship program for underprivileged students.

The headmistress of the school, Madam Theresa Vaa-Ib commended the alumni for their generosity, stating,

“The generosity of the 2004 Year Group serves as an inspiration to all of us. Their contributions have enriched our school and reminded us of the strong sense of community that makes this institution special. We hope other year groups will follow their lead as we prepare for our 35th anniversary.” She noted

The celebration culminated in a Thanksgiving Mass held at Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Dansoman, Accra, marking a significant milestone for the alumni and reinforcing their connection to the school community.
