MP’s Timely Intervention Brings Relief to Oti Senior High Technical School

Students and teachers of Oti Senior High Technical School in Dambai can now breathe a sigh of relief, thanks to the benevolence of their area Member of Parliament, Nelson Kofi Djabab.

The school had been a perennial water shortage haven, but the MP’s completion of a mechanized borehole has brought an end to the students’ struggles.

The MP’s gesture is a fulfillment of a promise made to the students and management of the school. The borehole, which is expected to serve the school community, will greatly improve the learning environment and overall well-being of the students and teachers.

Students who spoke to our reporter expressed their gratitude to the MP, noting that the water shortage had been a significant challenge affecting their academic activities. Some students had to wake up early to join long queues to fetch water, which often left them tired and unable to concentrate in class.

The school’s management has assured the MP that they will take good care of the borehole to ensure its longevity. This development is a welcome relief to the school community, and it demonstrates the MP’s commitment to addressing the needs of his constituents.

Similar water challenges have been reported in other schools across Ghana, highlighting the need for sustained efforts to address the issue. For instance, in 2023, the Ada MP appealed to the government to provide water to schools in her constituency after two students lost their lives while fetching water from the Volta River. The situation in Oti Senior High Technical School is, however, now looking up, thanks to the MP’s intervention.

The completion of the mechanized borehole is a testament to the MP’s dedication to improving the lives of his constituents. As the school community looks to the future, they can now focus on their academic pursuits without the burden of water scarcity.
