Xandy Kamel accuses TV station of pirating her movie two days after release

Ghanaian filmmaker and actress Xandy Kamel has accused Fast TV of pirating her newly released movie, “Unseen Beauty,” by airing it without her permission just two days after its release.

In a tearful video shared on her Instagram, Xandy expressed anger and sadness, pointing out that she hadn’t made even $10 from the film and is struggling to find support to promote it. She criticized the TV station for raising funds to open their channel yet failing to purchase content legally. Xandy also referenced Nigerian actress Mercy Johnson’s similar complaint against another Ghanaian TV station, Blazing TV, and challenged those skeptical of such piracy claims to consider her situation without dismissing it as a publicity stunt.

Xandy appealed to the National Film Authority (NFA) and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts in Ghana to intervene and protect filmmakers from piracy. She joined other filmmakers like Omoni Oboli, Ruth Kadiri, and Mercy Johnson, who have publicly condemned the illegal broadcasting of their films on Ghanaian TV stations. The film industry continues to call for stricter enforcement of copyright laws and better protection for creative works in Ghana
