Ghanaian actress and media personality Efia Odo has publicly addressed and denied circulating rumors that she is the biological daughter of the late highlife legend, Daddy Lumba.
In a self-recorded video on Instagram, Odo clarified that the speculation is “entirely false.” She explained that an old video clip, where she affectionately referred to Daddy Lumba as “dad,” had been taken out of context. She stated that the reference was figurative, born out of respect for the singer’s immense stature and influence in Ghanaian culture.
“I was gonna totally ignore this, but it’s becoming too much,” Odo said, explaining that the video was from a segment she did for Questa TV. “I said Daddy Lumba is my dad, but I was joking.”
Odo accused a “clout chaser” of deliberately editing the video to create a misleading narrative. The rumors gained significant traction after Moira Araba Dawson-Williams, the mother of one of Kennedy Agyapong’s children, made online claims following the musician’s death, accusing him of neglecting his “daughter,” Efia Odo.
Odo concluded by reiterating her reverence for the late musician, saying, “Daddy Lumba is everyone’s nurturer in a way.”
