Ghana Establishes Gold Board Tribunal to Address Licensing and Dispute Appeals

Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Ghana’s Finance Minister, has officially inaugurated the Ghana Gold Board Tribunal, a new body created to handle appeals related to the country’s gold industry. The establishment of the tribunal is in accordance with Section 55 of the Gold Board Act.

The three-member tribunal is tasked with reviewing appeals concerning decisions made by the Gold Board, issues related to license applications, and resolutions from the Dispute Resolution Committee.

The government has named the following individuals to serve on the tribunal:

  • Biadela Mortey Akpadzi (Chairman)
  • Hamidu Mariam (Member)
  • Justin Pwavra Teriwajah (Member)

While the tribunal has been inaugurated, the government has yet to appoint a registrar or provide the necessary support staff to ensure its effective operation.
