The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, welcomed the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, to the Ministry in a historic visit aimed at strengthening the nation’s health sector. The meeting is part of the Vice President’s ongoing commitment to support the Ministry’s mandate of providing comprehensive health services to all Ghanaians.
According to Minister Akandoh, discussions focused on key strategies to propel the health sector forward, improve healthcare delivery, and ensure citizens receive enhanced services.
The talks covered a wide range of initiatives, including the “MahamaCares” program, the uncapping of the National Health Insurance Fund, and the management of public health challenges such as cholera, meningitis, and MPOX. The conversation also highlighted recent successes, including the enrollment of over 10,000 nurses onto the government payroll, with approximately 7,000 already receiving their salaries.
Future plans were also addressed, with both leaders discussing the progress of Agenda 111 and the critical retooling of health facilities across the country.
Mr. Akandoh expressed his gratitude for the Vice President’s unwavering commitment and pledge of support. He stated that her backing would be instrumental in advancing their shared vision of building a stronger, more resilient health system for Ghana.
