The Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment has called for a renewed commitment to integrity, patriotism and digital skills as Ghana joins the global community to commemorate International Youth Day 2026.
The celebration is being observed under the national theme, “Rebuilding Values, Inspiring Patriotism: Empowering the Youth in the Digital Age.”
In a statement issued on August 11, 2026, the Ministry described Ghana’s youth as active agents of change who are contributing significantly to addressing local and national challenges while driving the country’s social and economic transformation.
It said the commemoration provides an opportunity to recognise the determination, creativity and contributions of young people while reflecting on the support needed to enable them to reach their full potential.
According to the Ministry, it remains committed to expanding skills development and lifelong learning opportunities for young people across the country.
It said its priorities include supporting youth entrepreneurship and innovation, promoting decent employment and economic inclusion, strengthening youth participation in governance and advancing mental health awareness.
The Ministry also reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that no young person is left behind, regardless of their location, gender, ability or socioeconomic background.
It called for stronger collaboration among government institutions, the private sector, development partners, civil society organisations, educational institutions and local communities to create an enabling environment for young people to thrive.
The Ministry further urged stakeholders to work collectively to restore and strengthen values such as integrity, discipline, hard work and patriotism among the youth.
It also stressed the need to equip young people to take advantage of digital opportunities responsibly and productively, particularly as technology continues to reshape education, employment, entrepreneurship and civic participation.
“As we celebrate International Youth Day, we honour the determination, talent, and achievements of Ghana’s youth,” the Ministry said.
It added that rebuilding values, inspiring patriotism and empowering young people in the digital age could help Ghana build “a prosperous, inclusive, and resilient Ghana where every young person has the opportunity to realise their full potential.”
The Ministry therefore encouraged all stakeholders to renew their commitment to creating opportunities for young people while equipping them with the values, skills and support required to contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s development.
