Member of Parliament for Subin, Eugene Boakye Antwi has publicly criticized former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, accusing him of disrespecting his fellow cabinet ministers and MPs from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In an interview with Oyerepa TV, Antwi, a prominent figure in the “Ken Must Go” campaign, expressed his discontent with Ofori-Atta’s conduct during his time in office.
Antwi highlighted that Ofori-Atta often left budget presentations prematurely, failing to engage with his colleagues afterward. “How many times has Ken Ofori-Atta presented the budget and then stayed for us to read it? The moment he finishes reading the budget, he leaves,” Antwi stated.
He further claimed that Ofori-Atta’s behavior extended to cabinet meetings, where he reportedly left discussions unresolved, often departing within an hour.
Antwi’s remarks reflect a broader dissatisfaction within the party regarding Ofori-Atta’s approach to leadership and collaboration. He questioned the rationale behind supporting a government where a non-MP, due to personal connections, disregards the contributions of elected officials.
Additionally, it has been reported that Ofori-Atta earned $9.2 million from Ghana’s borrowing through domestic and Eurobonds between 2018 and 2021, raising further scrutiny over his financial dealings during his tenure as Minister of Finance.
