The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Washington DC Chapter, Janis Asare, has made a bold prediction regarding former party member Alan Kyeremanten’s prospects in the upcoming elections. He stated that Kyeremanten is unlikely to secure even 1% of the votes in the Asante Region.
Mr. Kyeremanten, who recently resigned from the NPP to establish the Movement for Change, has faced significant challenges since his departure. During an appearance on Okay FM’s “Egyaso Gyaso,”
Asare emphasized that John Agyekum Kufuor, a prominent figure in the party’s history, has publicly rejected Kyeremanten and instead endorsed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the party’s leadership.
Asare pointed out that Kyeremanten’s previous electoral strength was largely attributed to Kufuor’s backing during his contests against Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the 2000s. However, he noted that support for Kyeremanten has waned since Kufuor’s endorsement of Bawumia.
“The trajectory of Alan’s support is always going down. From the peak when he started contesting Nana Addo up until today, the numbers are going down,” Asare remarked.
He asserted that Kufuor’s endorsement of Bawumia signifies a lack of confidence in Kyeremanten’s ability to win in the Ashanti Region, reinforcing his prediction of Kyeremanten’s minimal electoral impact.
