Devtraco Group, a leading Ghanaian real estate firm, officially unveiled The Pelican Hotel in Cantonment, Accra, during a press soiree, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, innovation, and ethical development.
Chief Executive Officer Francis Okai Okoh described the event as a “symbolic milestone” in the company’s over-three-decade journey shaping Ghana’s real estate landscape. “This afternoon’s meeting is a symbolic step forward in our commitment to openness, engagement, and partnership with the media and the broader public,” Okoh told journalists, stakeholders, and partners.
He highlighted Devtraco’s contributions to housing, hospitality, community development, and urban transformation, positioning the firm within a “narrative bigger than construction.” Okoh firmly dismissed recent claims by government appointees that Ghana’s real estate sector serves as a money-laundering front, calling them “misleading and unfair.” “There are many genuine real estate businesses in Ghana doing honest work, and we appeal to the media to help carry that narrative,” he stressed.
The fully Ghanaian-owned Pelican Hotel underscores Devtraco’s pivot into hospitality, adding value to Accra’s growing sector. Okoh invited attendees to engage with management for insights into the company’s projects and announced upcoming updates on innovation and excellence.
Development Director Sydney Quaye echoed themes of national pride and ambition, portraying Devtraco as proof that “Ghanaians can build, manage, and scale world-class businesses without foreign ownership.” He credited Chairman Seth Aiden’s legacy-building efforts, noting the seamless transition to family leadership, including Aiden’s son as Executive Director.
Quaye revealed a key partnership with Aleph Hospitality, a Middle East and Africa operator, which vetted the hotel against international standards. “For Aleph Hospitality to agree to manage this facility, there were extensive checks… The Pelican Hotel met every requirement,” he said.
Looking ahead, Quaye declared Devtraco’s vision extends “beyond Ghana’s borders” to West Africa, the continent, and global markets. “The vision going forward is to show Ghana and the world that Ghanaians can do it, Ghanaians can build it, and Ghanaians can grow it,” he concluded, urging media support for real estate and tourism growth.
