The Ghana Police Service has taken a significant step to bolster security for the nation’s new 24-hour economy policy with the establishment of a dedicated 24-Hour Economy Security Secretariat. This announcement was made by the Minister for the Interior and Member of Parliament for Asawase, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, during a passing-out ceremony at the National Police Training School today.
The newly formed secretariat, located at the Police Headquarters, is tasked with coordinating comprehensive security arrangements for businesses and industries operating under the ambitious 24-hour economy initiative. This proactive measure aims to ensure a secure environment for continuous economic activity across the country.
Addressing the graduating class and other attendees, Minister Mohammed-Mubarak underscored the critical role of the Police Service in the successful implementation of the policy. He emphasized that the police are fundamental to providing the necessary security, enabling citizens and workers to conduct their economic and social activities without hindrance.
The Minister further urged both newly graduated officers and those already in service to uphold the highest standards of integrity and to enforce the law with fairness and impartiality. He stressed the indispensable role of the Police Service in fostering peace, security, and social cohesion, which are vital for national development.
Minister Mohammed-Mubarak also called upon officers to demonstrate a level of competence that aligns with public trust, advocating for firm law enforcement coupled with profound respect for citizens.
