New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant Kennedy Agyapong has urged party delegates to heed the voice of the grassroots as they prepare to select a flagbearer for the upcoming 2028 general elections.
His call comes ahead of the NPP’s National Annual Delegates Conference, scheduled for Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Legon.
In a video message disseminated to delegates, Mr. Agyapong underscored the critical need for their choice to align with the aspirations of the broader party membership and the Ghanaian populace.
“I’m pleading with you to take a right decision that reflects the views of Ghanaians and the delegates, especially the grassroots,”Agyapong stated.
“They are the voice of the people, and we should listen to them. If they want a victory for us, then we should give them their choice.” He further implored delegates to make a decision that would ultimately secure an NPP victory in the 2028 elections.
Meanwhile, preparations for the conference are proceeding as planned, according to Joseph Osei-Owusu, Chairman of the National Planning Committee. Mr. Osei-Owusu confirmed that the National Council had received petitions from some party members requesting a change in the conference date.
However, “after careful deliberation, the Council decided to maintain the original schedule,” he assured journalists, indicating the party’s commitment to the established timeline for the pivotal event.
