The Rapid Response Unit for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (RRU4DMB), a prominent political movement in Ghana’s Upper East Region aligned with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), today marked its second anniversary, reiterating its unwavering commitment to the party and its preferred presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Established in 2023 with the primary objective of supporting Dr. Bawumia’s flagbearership bid and the NPP’s campaign efforts in the 2024 general elections, RRU4DMB has evolved into a significant volunteer force within the party in the region.
In a press statement released on its anniversary, Ing. Filson Apambilla Awankua, the founder of RRU4DMB, reaffirmed the group’s dedication to the NPP’s future endeavors.
“Despite our deep regret over the unfortunate outcome of the 2024 elections, the RRU remains steadfast in its commitment to the NPP and its core values. This phase in our political journey, though disheartening, presents us with a renewed opportunity to rebuild, regroup, and re-strategize toward a stronger and more unified party.” The statement noted.
The statement also called for greater unity and cohesion within the NPP’s ranks, urging the party hierarchy to foster an environment conducive to rebuilding and repositioning for future political success. “RRU therefore advocates for unity and cohesion within the ranks of the NPP, as these are essential foundations for our future triumph. Now, more than ever, we must unite with a common purpose and shared determination to reclaim power in the 2028 general elections,” the statement emphasized.
Furthermore, RRU4DMB explicitly endorsed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President, as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2028 elections. The movement asserted that Dr. Bawumia is uniquely positioned to lead the NPP to victory, citing his “strategic acumen, tenacity, experience, and unparalleled expertise” as qualities that make him the “ideal leader to restore hope, drive progress, and reconnect with the Ghanaian populace.”
During the 2024 election cycle, RRU4DMB actively mobilized resources, addressed operational needs, and served as a steadfast partner to the NPP’s campaign teams across the Upper East Region, demonstrating its dedication to the party’s electoral ambitions.
