Assin North: NDC Supporters Force Out YEA Director, Install New Appointee

Supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Assin North District today forcibly removed Christian Ankomahene Amoah, the District Youth Employment Agency (YEA) Director, from his office, asserting that he is not the rightful occupant of the position. They subsequently installed Samuel Bright Ativi as the new Director.

Mr. Amoah, who also serves as the Deputy Organiser of the NDC within the district, had reportedly been occupying the district YEA office for over two months.

The incident unfolded on Monday morning when party members, led by the Constituency Organiser, Samuel Bright Ativi, stormed the YEA office in Assin Breku. The group reportedly broke the existing locks, replaced them, and announced Mr. Ativi’s assumption of office. They contend that the appointment for the YEA directorship should have originally been given to the constituency organiser.

Speaking to Citi News following his installation, Samuel Bright Ativi maintained his legitimacy as the new District YEA Director. “In the party, the position should go to the main Youth Organiser, but unfortunately, I do not know what happened; it went to my deputy. So today I have resumed office. I have received my letter,” Mr. Ativi stated.

The situation highlights an internal dispute within the NDC’s Assin North chapter regarding official appointments to public service roles.
