The husband of Ghanaian fashion icon and actress Nana Akua Addo is expected to appear before court over allegations of physical, emotional and economic abuse, the Ghana Police Service has disclosed.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) said Harold Norman was arrested on August 27, 2026, following a petition by Nana Akua Addo, whose legal name is Rosemond Akua Adobea, alleging that she had suffered various forms of abuse during their marriage.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, October 7, the CID said the case had come to the attention of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at the Lakeside and Ministries Police Stations in July 2026.
The development follows the circulation of videos on social media purportedly showing the actress being physically assaulted by her husband. One of the videos also allegedly showed their daughter being hit.
Norman has reportedly made counter-allegations of abuse against the actress.
According to the police, Norman was arrested after the petition was received, and investigators obtained a caution statement from him before granting him police enquiry bail with two sureties on August 29. Investigations subsequently continued.
The CID disclosed that Norman was scheduled to appear in court on October 7. However, his lawyer informed the police that his client had been admitted to hospital and could not attend the scheduled proceedings.
“He was due to be put before court today,” the police statement said.
The CID added that DOVVSU investigators had visited the hospital to verify the reported admission and were monitoring the situation to ensure that Norman would be arraigned immediately after his discharge.
Meanwhile, the police said they were collaborating with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to provide social welfare support for Nana Akua Addo and her children.
“The Ghana Police Service remains committed to protecting victims of domestic violence and ensuring that complaints brought before the Service are investigated professionally and fairly,” the statement said.
The case has drawn public attention following the circulation of the alleged abuse videos and renewed discussions about domestic violence and the protection of victims.
