NAPO Criticizes Mahama as Divisive, calls for Bawumia’s Leadership

The running mate of New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has criticized former President John Dramani Mahama, labeling him as a divisive figure unfit to lead Ghana again.

Speaking at an event in Mpasatia, Prempeh emphasized the need for a leader who can foster unity among Ghanaians, contrasting Mahama’s divisive rhetoric with Bawumia’s purported unifying qualities.

NAPO pointed out that Mahama’s statements often exacerbate tensions within the populace, claiming that the former president has a history of playing tribal politics to further his ambitions.

He referenced Mahama’s past comments suggesting that the NPP is an “Akan political party” and that the party would never allow a northerner like Bawumia to lead them.

“John Mahama boldly stated that there is no way that the NPP will allow Dr. Bawumia, who’s a northerner, to lead them as their presidential candidate,” Prempeh remarked, questioning Mahama’s credibility now that Bawumia is indeed the NPP’s flagbearer.

He urged Ghanaians to recognize the importance of unity and to support Bawumia, whom he described as a development-oriented leader capable of guiding the nation towards prosperity.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s comments come amid a heated political climate as the country gears up for the upcoming elections, with both Mahama and Bawumia vying for the presidency.
