The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has strongly criticized the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) over the continued detention of Abdul Hannan Wahab, the former Buffer Stock CEO. Mustapha alleges that EOCO officials, specifically Raymond Archer and his deputies, have refused to evaluate variations for Wahab’s bail despite the conditions set by EOCO being met.
In a fervent statement, Mustapha questioned the rationale behind Wahab’s prolonged custody:
“Why is he still being kept in this station when the conditions that you put on him have been met? Look, the valuation report that we have far exceeds the onerous bill conditions that were put on him. The sureties that we have put is more than it, and everything is ready.”
He further claimed a deliberate avoidance by EOCO officials:
“Yesterday, when we finished everything and we were calling Raymond Archer, his deputies, and whoever is involved in this case to come and just go through and grant the young man bail to go home, none of them picked their phon1e calls.”
Mustapha concluded by suggesting a punitive motive behind the detention:
“So, he’s been left there as punishment for exactly what we don’t know. That’s why I’m saying that if he has done something wrong, take him to court.”
Abdul Hannan Wahab was arrested on June 25, 2025, in connection with alleged financial and procurement-related infractions. He remains in custody, reportedly for failing to meet bail conditions amounting to GH¢60 million.
In response to the situation, Mustapha also announced the NPP’s decision to mobilize and stage a protest at EOCO’s premises on Monday, July 7, 2025, to demand Wahab’s immediate release.
