Samuel George Introduces Nana Yaw Amoah-Yeboah as New NITA Director-General

The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has officially introduced Nana Yaw Amoah-Yeboah as the new Director-General of the National Information Technology Agency (NITA).

Mr Amoah-Yeboah takes over from Dr Mark-Oliver Kevor, who was commended by the Minister for his service and contributions towards the transformation of the agency, particularly in strengthening the National Data Centre and advancing key digital government initiatives.

Speaking at the official introduction ceremony, Mr Samuel George said the new Director-General assumes office at a critical period as government prepares to implement major reforms aimed at reshaping Ghana’s digital sector.

He revealed that the proposed NITA Act, when passed by Parliament, will provide a stronger governance and regulatory framework by separating the agency’s regulatory responsibilities from its commercial functions.

The Minister also reiterated government’s commitment to strengthening the management and governance of Ghana’s digital infrastructure.

He announced that all payments related to NITA-managed infrastructure would henceforth be made directly to the agency, describing the move as a measure to protect public assets, improve accountability and enhance operational efficiency.

Mr George further emphasised the importance of effective regulation in promoting innovation while safeguarding Ghana’s growing digital and fintech ecosystem.

Introducing the new Director-General, the Minister described Mr Amoah-Yeboah as an experienced technology professional with more than a decade of expertise in the information technology sector, including involvement in major government digital transformation initiatives.

He urged the new NITA boss to promote teamwork, maintain an open-door leadership approach and build on the agency’s achievements as it evolves into a stronger digital regulator.

The Board Chair of NITA, Ms Estelle Akofio-Sowah, expressed confidence in Mr Amoah-Yeboah’s ability to lead the agency through its next phase of development.

She assured him of the Board’s support and encouraged him to leverage the expertise of NITA’s staff to advance Ghana’s digital transformation agenda.

In his acceptance remarks, Mr Amoah-Yeboah expressed appreciation to the government and the Minister for the confidence placed in him.

He pledged to work closely with the Board, management and staff to consolidate NITA’s progress and contribute to the government’s vision of building a secure, innovative and digitally inclusive public service.
